Strombus canarium Dimensions from 5 cm to 6 cm
Strombidae This family includes medium to very large gastropods. They are predominantly in the Indian and Pacific oceans, but six species are also found in the Caribbean region. The family consists of 72 species, with 36 of them occurring near Australia. The largest representative of the family is the Strombus goliath reaching 375 mm.
Unlike most snails that slowly glide on a substrate produced by them, the representatives of this family have a characteristic leaping movement, using their protruding tentacles.
