Sea stars class Asteroidea
Class Asteroidea Sea stars include about 1,800 species and inhabit almost all the oceans of the world, with the greatest variety being in the Indian and Pacific oceans. Most of them are predators that feed on mussels, oysters or slower moving marine inhabitants. Some of the stars can live weeks without food. It is believed that they can get some nutrients from organic materials dissolved in sea water.
